This two-week online course is designed for independent school professionals who are looking to elevate their understanding of nonprofit accounting and financial reporting in an independent school setting. Topics include revenue recognition (tuition, contributions, endowments), GAAP/FASB compliance, net asset classification, donor restrictions, functional expense allocation, and IRS Form 990 reporting.
This course includes asynchronous instruction available daily through videos, reading and online discussion topics. Participants should plan to reserve 1-2 hours daily for the course in order to maximize learning. An optional live one-hour study session is open to all participants on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET during week two. In addition to the collaboration opportunities presented in the course, you will establish a national learning community of peers with whom you can continue to explore the concepts discussed in the course.

Participants will deepen their understanding of revenue recognition, including tuition, contributions, and endowment income, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for nonprofit schools.
