(from the New York Times) President Trump’s budget proposal would shrink the Education Department by 15% or $12 billion. The most significant chunk of that reduction, about $4.5 billion, would come from K-12 schools. The plan does not include cuts for Title I, schools that serve the lowest income students. The budget plan also includes $60 million in new funding for charter schools.
