(From Catholic News Agency) Catholic schools across Texas are preparing for a potential surge in applications following the state’s new $1 billion school choice bill. Jennifer Allmon, executive director of the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops, says schools are working to expand capacity to enroll about 20,000 new students when the ESA program launches in 2026–2027. The program prioritizes low-income students and those with disabilities — two groups Catholic schools already serve widely.
