Students are more likely to disclose struggles with bullying, loneliness and social media to a chatbot than to an adult. According to data from more than 250,000 messages exchanged with middle and high school students spanning 19 states, the top 10 chat topics were the same across all ages, grades and geographic locations. These include balancing academics and extracurriculars, sleep, loneliness and relationships. Experts say the chatbot should be used to supplement human care, not replace it, to be effective.
