(From EdWeek) Four-day school weeks offer potential benefits like improved teacher retention and work-life balance, but their impact depends on local context, new research suggests. A study in Arkansas found teachers in four-day districts were 28% more likely to stay than those in five-day systems, especially when the schedule was unique in the region. However, in Colorado, some teachers still left for higher pay in neighboring states despite the extra day off. Long-term studies in Oregon and Montana showed no significant difference in recruitment or retention.
