(From K-12 Dive) A new study from Arizona State and the University of Pennsylvania shows that team-based teaching models can boost teacher retention. In this model, called the Next Education Workforce (NEW), multiple educators share collective responsibility for at least 100 students rather than relying on one teacher to instruct a classroom. Teachers in the NEW model had a predicted turnover rate of just 12%, compared to 21% for those in traditional classrooms and 16% nationally. These early results suggest that team-based staffing may help address teacher shortages by improving retention.
